Starting from the Floor Up
The future home of Tempest Coffee was a busy place just before the winter holidays as our concrete subcontract partners completed the flooring pour and finish for this full tenant buildout. The gallery of images captures the crew placing the mix, leveling the surface, and carefully working the slab to achieve a smooth, durable foundation. For a coffee shop, the floor is more than concrete—it dictates how equipment sits, how guests move through the room, and how the entire design ultimately feels.
KennMar Construction’s project management team coordinated this work within a tight holiday window when many trades were balancing year-end schedules. Despite the seasonal rush, the concrete crews delivered on plan, bringing the space to a critical point right before New Years. With the slab cured and ready, Tempest Coffee could move forward with framing, millwork, and interior finishes as soon as the calendar turned.
Craft, Coordination, Community
Brownsburg will soon experience a welcoming neighborhood café, but that atmosphere relies on the unseen craftsmanship of specialty trades. The pour required precise attention to thickness, moisture control, and finish quality so that brewing equipment, counters, and seating could be installed without compromise. Watching the crew in action is a reminder of how many skilled hands contribute to a single small business dream.
Sharing this update at the start of the new year feels fitting. New Years are for momentum, and this freshly finished floor represents exactly that—steady progress toward opening day. We’re grateful for our concrete subcontract team and for the Tempest Coffee ownership group who trusted KennMar Construction to create a space built to last.
From all of us at KennMar Construction, cheers to Brownsburg and to the tradespeople helping expand the local dining and retail community in 2026. We look forward to the next milestones and to seeing tables and conversations fill the room above this solid new foundation.
